This weekend’s big match-up in Baseball

by theboss on August 27th, 2010 No Comments

Sports Interaction betting analyst Al Dannity breaks down this weekend’s big match-up in Baseball

Sports Interaction betting analyst Al Dannity breaks down this weekend’s big match-up in Baseball.

The San Diego Padres look to continue their miracle 2010 season this weekend with a three game set against the Giants. San Francisco has home advantage and that could prove decisive in a series where these two teams look otherwise inseparable.

San Diego’s performances in 2010 have silenced critics but the Giants have slowly clawed their way back into the playoff race since the All-Star break and now there’s nothing between them and the Padres. Neither side has been particularly dominant of late. I expect this trend to continue this weekend. The Padres should be able to do enough to win one of the first two games but I like San Francisco to have the edge in this series, especially with Tim Lincecum pitching on Sunday. Bet on the Giants to win big with Sports Interaction.

The other big National League match-up this weekend sees the Phillies travel to New York to meet the Mets. Philadelphia can’t seem to quite catch Atlanta at the top of the NL East but I can see things changing this weekend. The Mets are a spent force, waiting for somebody to finally kill off their fading playoff dreams. I see the killer blow coming this weekend. Bet on Philadelphia to sweep the Mets.

Like the Mets, Boston is barely keeping its head above water in the playoff chase. This weekend the Red Sox need to raise their game in a series with the Rangers. Texas comfortably leads the AL West but the job isn’t done yet. The Rangers need to finish the season strongly to have a chance to go deep in October. I like Texas to hold the edge in this series, winning two out of three. Bet on Texas to win big with Sports Interaction.

Finally we come to the battle for first place in the AL East. Tampa Bay is at home to Baltimore and it’s hard to see anything other than a sweep by the Rays. The Orioles have played a little better than average lately but that run is going to come to a halt this weekend. The Yankees take on Kansas City this weekend, knowing they will need to match anything Tampa Bay does against the Orioles in order to stay ahead in the race. While I like New York to win three out of four, I can’t commit to a sweep by the Yankees. The Royals might stink but they can perform in spurts so I like them to take one game in this series. Bet on the Yankees and Rays to win big with Sports Interaction this weekend.

Nationals a good bet? So says bullpen betting system

by theboss on August 27th, 2010 No Comments

With the sudden retirement of Manager Lou Piniella on Sunday Chicago Cubs fans didn’t think their season could get any worse; until now. The Cubs are up against one of the more powerful bullpen betting systems. It seems as if bettors have noticed as 79 percent of the bettors at Sportsbook.com are on the Nationals. The number opened at Washington -142 and currently sits at -172. Nationals a good bet? So says bullpen betting system

If you haven’t been following the Cubs lately, the 2010 season has become a train wreck. The roster has been decimated by trades, injuries, and overall poor play. At 23-games under .500, they have won just five of their last 25 games. In the most recent loss, yesterday at home to Atlanta, the Cubs’ bullpen was ravaged for nine runs in three innings of work.

At the same time, the Nationals’ bullpen has been pitching very well of late, and comes into Monday night’s contest with a respectable 3.55 ERA & 1.338 WHIP overall. In the last five games, the relief staff has yielded just three runs in 15 innings. That success leads to what has been a highly profitable betting system that could impact Monday night’s game. It reads as follows:

Play Against – Road teams (CHICAGO CUBS) – after a game where the bullpen was rocked for 6 or more earned runs against opponent with a hot bullpen whose WHIP is under 1.000 the last 5 games. (59-18 over the last 5 seasons.) (76.6%, +37.3 units. Rating = 4*) The average money line posted in these games was: Team favored with a money line of: -120.6The average score in these games was: Team 5.1, Opponent 3.7 (Average run differential = +1.5) The situation’s record this season is: (11-1, +8.5 units).Over the last 3 seasons the situation’s record is: (31-12, +15.8 units).Since 1997 the situation’s record is: (148-89, +29.4 units). In the Cubs’ last visit to Nationals Park, they swept a Washington club playing its first series under interim manager Jim Riggleman. The Cubs are hoping for similar results in this season’s trip to the nation’s capital as they begin the post-Lou Piniella era. With Coach Mike Quade taking over as interim manager, Chicago begins a six-game trip tonight.

With Quade moving from the third-base coaching box to the dugout for the rest of the year, the Cubs give the ball to rookie right-hander Casey Coleman (0-1, 7.82 ERA).

Coming off a 2-4 trip that ended with Sunday’s 6-0 loss to Philadelphia, the Nationals (53-71) will counter with Livan Hernandez (8-8, 3.06) as they open a seven-game home stand. The veteran right-hander is 0-3 with a 6.32 ERA in his last three starts at Nationals Park after going 4-1 with a 2.10 ERA in his first 10 home outings this season.  Hernandez, 11-6 with a 3.84 ERA against Chicago, receives among the lowest run support in the NL at 3.39 per game. Washington has scored four runs in his last three outings.

Washington has won four of six against Chicago since last season’s matchup at Nationals Park.

Monday night’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM ET as part of a trimmed down betting board of 10 games for the night at Sportsbook.com.

Weekend Baseball Betting Options at Sports Interaction

by theboss on July 22nd, 2010 No Comments

Sports Interaction betting analyst Al Dannity breaks down the big MLB games this weekend.
Sports Interaction betting analyst Al Dannity breaks down the big MLB games this weekend.

October is getting closer and the battle to make the playoffs is intensifying. Nowhere more than in the AL West where Texas looks like it can finally break the Angels’ stranglehold on the division.

The Rangers welcome the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, what a mouthful, for a four game set which could go a long way towards deciding the playoff destinies of both teams. Texas holds a big lead in the division going into this series and I like the Rangers to press home its advantage this weekend. Neither side has lit up the American League since the All Star break but the Rangers have the talent to step up to another level. Vladimir Guerrero will once again be at the heart of any success the Rangers enjoy. The former Angel has already shown he can turn it on against his former club and I like him to play big this weekend. With Cliff Lee and Tommy Hunter shining I like the Rangers to dominate this weekend. The Angels will be lucky to avoid a sweep. Back the Texas Rangers to win big with Sports Interaction.

All eyes will be on Los Angeles in the National League this weekend as the Dodgers welcome the Mets. Both teams are on the outside looking in as it currently stands, trailing in their divisions and in the wild card race. A big weekend for either team would make a huge difference towards the playoff picture, even in July.

Both ball clubs have been poor since the All Star break but I like the Dodgers chances of turning things around this weekend. The Mets have played above their talent level so far this season and they can only do that for so long. Los Angeles has the deeper outfit and that is going to prove telling at this time of year.

Bettors should keep an eye on momentum in this series. If New York can win one of the first two games then it could come out with two wins from the weekend. The more likely scenario is that the Mets get in a 2-0 hole early and find no way back. I like the Dodgers to sweep New York this weekend, effectively killing off the Mets playoff hopes in 2010. Bet on the Dodgers to win big this weekend with Sports Interaction.

There’s a great pitching matchup in the National League on Saturday when the Atlanta Braves take on the New York Mets. The Braves send Tim Hudson to the mound and the Mets send Mike Pelfrey.
